Backup Generators & Transfer Systems
Backup Generators & Transfer Systems
Power outages can happen without warning. A properly designed backup power system can keep essential equipment and circuits operating safely until utility power is restored.
Coastal Valley Electric Inc. installs backup power solutions ranging from permanently installed standby generator systems to manual transfer equipment for portable generators and compatible portable power stations.
Standby Generator Systems
A permanently installed standby generator can provide automatic backup power to selected circuits or, when properly sized, much of your home.
When utility power is lost, an automatic transfer switch starts the generator and transfers the connected loads to generator power. When utility power returns, the system automatically transfers the home back to utility power and shuts the generator down.
We can design the system around your home's electrical load, available fuel source, and the equipment you want backed up.
Portable Generator Transfer Systems
A manual transfer system provides a practical alternative for homeowners who want reliable backup power without installing a permanent standby generator.
During an outage, you connect your portable generator to an approved exterior generator inlet and use the transfer equipment to safely power selected circuits.
Depending on generator capacity, these circuits can include refrigerators and freezers, heating equipment, lighting, selected receptacles, sump pumps, garage door openers, internet and Wi-Fi equipment, and other essential household loads.
The transfer equipment keeps generator power safely isolated from the utility system, preventing dangerous backfeeding.
